The Honorable Jeffrey Zients, Director of the National Economic Council and Assistant to the President for Economic Policy, joined Economic Club President David M. Rubenstein for a discussion about the current state of the economy and the Administration’s goals for the next Congress at a breakfast meeting. Director Zients told President Rubenstein that, in his opinion, the prospect for achieving corporate tax reform in the next Congress is positive. He said that the Administration’s proposal is similar to one proposed in 2013 by Representative David Camp (R-MI), chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. “That basic three-part structure, that framework, is similar, or remarkably overlapping,” he said. “That makes me optimistic that we can get something done.”
