The Economic Club of Washington, D.C. was pleased to host The Honorable Wes Moore, Governor of Maryland and The Honorable Spencer J. Cox, Governor of Utah in an interview by Judy Woodruff, Senior Correspondent (former Anchor and Managing Editor) of PBS NewsHour. The in-person luncheon was held on Wednesday, February 21.
As the United States begins the 2024 Presidential election cycle, Governors Moore and Cox will come together at the Economic Club of Washington to discuss the state of bipartisanship in America and how we can move forward to reduce divisiveness and polarization.
In 2023 Wes Moore became the 63rd Governor of the state of Maryland. He is Maryland’s first Black Governor in the state’s 246-year history and is just the third African American elected Governor in the history of the United States.
Spencer J. Cox was sworn in as Utah’s 18th governor in 2021. He is also currently serving as the Chairman of the National Governors Association and in that capacity is sponsoring the Disagree Better initiative, highlighting healthy conflict as a tool for solving important public policy challenges. Governor Cox has a long track record of public service, serving as a City Councilmember, Mayor, County Commissioner, and state legislator before being appointed as Utah’s Lieutenant Governor in 2013.
